Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Front-End Team Member to deliver a smooth checkout experience and friendly service. You will scan items, bag groceries, and assist customers while keeping the front-end area organized and efficient throughout the shift.

You will rotate between transactions, cart retrieval, restocking, and maintaining checkout areas. The role requires basic math, good communication, and a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older (or 18 years of age or older, depending on local/state requirements)
• Completion of company cashier or front-end training upon hire
• Basic math and communication skills required
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Prior customer service experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at checkout, scan items, bag groceries, and answer questions
• Keep the front-end area organized, clean, and running smoothly throughout the shift
• Rotate between transactions, cart collection, restocking supplies, and maintaining the checkout area
• Handle cash, card, and digital payments accurately and efficiently
• Maintain a steady workflow and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
