Job summary

SpartanNash in Fenton, Michigan is seeking a friendly cashier to operate the checkout, scan items, process payments, and bag purchases while delivering courteous service.

You will handle cash, checks, cards, and coupons, maintain pricing accuracy, stock, and keep the check-stand area clean. High school diploma preferred; prior retail experience helpful; strong communication and math skills are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; interact politely with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; handle various payment types.
• Weigh and bag customer purchases; ensure pricing accuracy and proper PLU usage.
• Maintain front-end duties including merchandising check-stand items and displays.
• Explain store programs and promotions to customers and model high service standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and security policies; assist with stocking as needed.
