Job summary

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customers' purchases; handle various payment methods.
• Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases.
• Understand use of check-stand equipment (register, scanner, scale, belts) and its efficient operation.
• Front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand (newspapers, periodicals, candy, etc.).
• Maintain proper use of PLU codes; report pricing or signage errors.
• Remain aware of current store programs and product locations.
• Communicate company programs, in-store specials and coupons to customers; model high service standards.
• Comply with cash handling, security and product handling policies.
• Keep the department clean and well-stocked; follow safety and sanitation procedures.
• May assist with stocking items; follow PPE and safety guidelines; follow guest experience guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
