Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; polite interaction with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; handle various products.
• Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, and coupons accurately.
• weigh and carefully bag customer purchases.
• Understand use of check-stand equipment and its efficient operation.
• Responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand with newspapers and candy.
• Ensure proper use of PLU codes; report errors in pricing or signage.
• Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations.
• Communicate store programs and in-store specials to customers; model high standards of service.
• Comply with policies on security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of restricted items.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked department; follow safety and sanitation procedures.
• May assist with stocking items and other departments as needed.
• Follow PPE, safety guidelines, and food safety expectations.
• Follow guest experience guidelines; participate in teamwork as needed.
