APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE OR BE PERMANENT IN A COMPARABLE TITLE ELIGIBLE FOR 6.1.9 TITLE CHANGE.

IF YOU ARE HIRED PROVISIONALLY IN THIS TITLE, YOU MUST TAKE AND PASS THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAM, WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE, TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT.

Family Independence Administration provides temporary help to individuals and families with social service and economic needs to assist them in reaching self-sufficiency via essential and diverse programs/services, such as: temporary cash assistance, SNAP, childcare, eviction prevention services, adult protective services, job training, employment plans/support, domestic violence assistance, child support enforcement, etc.

FIA is recruiting three Clerical Associate (CA) Level III positions to function as Front Door Receptionists.

Under the supervision of the Front Door Reception (FDR) Supervisor, with independence to exercise judgment and initiative, the Front Door Receptionist is responsible for efficiently routing visitors to the appropriate service area at a Family Independence Administration Model Center, including applicants for Public Assistance, Medicaid, and Food Stamps, as well as current recipients with scheduled appointments.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Receiving and directing customers to the correct unit within the Model Office, providing information where possible; asking for the reason for visit and documenting arrival time; accessing the appointment log and reviewing scheduled appointments using the Front Door Electronic Reception System (FRED) to determine if the individual has an appointment.
  2. Performing case searches in FRED; issuing numbered and color-coded tickets according to visitor policy; issuing children’s corner passes to parents/guardians with children; directing individuals to the appropriate floor for case management or food stamp reception.
  3. Reviewing appointment letters, court papers, or other documents; batching received materials and coding them for filing or processing; explaining available services; assessing emergencies for quick service; and assigning passes/tickets with information about service areas.
  4. Handing out application kits for Public Assistance, Medicaid, and Food Stamps; reviewing and answering applicant questions; assisting with case status inquiries; and providing walk-in assistance for employment, domestic violence, or other issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent approved by a recognized authority and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement:

Keyboard familiarity with a minimum of 20 words per minute.
