Opportunity to work in a brand-new Ambulatory Surgery Center! No weekends, no call, no holidays!

JOB TITLE: Front Desk Assistant/ Scheduler

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Greeting patients
  • Performing check-in procedures
  • Maintaining current demographic and insurance information in computer and in the chart
  • Performing office opening procedures, petty cash balancing, co-pay/co-insurance collection, and assisting patients as needed
  • Primary focus is servicing patients in the lobby with backup for phones and other front office personnel
  • Responsible for scheduling cases and will liaise with a number of referring doctors’ offices
  • Counseling patients and scheduling surgeries for multiple physicians.
  • Schedule surgeries and work with primary care physicians on a daily basis to ensure each patient has their history and physicals completed prior to surgery.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for each procedure on the physicians’ schedule.
  • Precertify any procedures on the schedule that require pre-certification.
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working with a diverse patient population.
  • Other duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma, with 1-2 years experience in healthcare background
  • Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of computer systems, programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must be able to multi – task
  • Must be able to express compassion and kindness to patients calling and being seen in the office
  • Must maintain a professional and upbeat attitude
  • Skill in written and verbal communication and customer relations
  • Ability to work with effectively with medical staff, Management, authorizations, external agencies and patients
  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment
  • Normal busy office environment with much patient contact
