Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our hospital registration/front office team in Willow Park, TX.

You will verify demographics, collect insurance information, and secure payment responsibilities to maximize hospital reimbursement while delivering patient-focused service. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 2 years of healthcare registration experience, and strong English skills; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus in the El Paso market.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication; bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus in certain markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations applicable to Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients to protect safety.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor information in the patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as used by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-friendly manner.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents.
• Coordinate transfer of patients when needed.
• Respond to records requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawers and keep logs of payments and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs.
