Job summary

SWLA Center for Health Services is seeking a Patient Access Registrar to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance information, and process registrations in our Patient Access department. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, Medical Office Assistant or Medical Assistant certification, and prior experience in a medical setting.

Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and insurance payers is required, with a focus on accuracy and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Certification as Medical Office Assistant and/or Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience in a medical or dental office setting is required.
• Must understand Medicare/Medicaid and insurance plans.
• Must understand insurance verification, eligibility and payers.
• Professional appearance and strong customer service.
• Maintain a professional attitude under pressure.
• Use correct grammar in paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a professional, welcoming manner.
• Enter/verify patient demographics accurately in the system.
• Ensure patients check in on time and have arrival confirmed.
• Enter/verify all patient insurance information in the system.
• Screen for sliding fee scale eligibility.
• Collect co-pays and self-pay charges at visit.
• Attend to lobby patients and assist with kiosks and portal sign-in.
• Review daily payment postings for accuracy and keep cash drawer secure.
• Maintain confidentiality in line with HIPAA.
