Summary
This position is assigned to the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Lodging Program; Fleet Readiness (N96); Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Nas Oceana. The incumbent performs front desk and/or reservation functions for the MWR Recreational lodging program. Recreational Lodging operations may include Recreational Vehicle (RV) Parks, Vacation Rentals (cottages, cabins, single houses, townhomes, duplexes, mobile homes, hotels, apartments), and/or campgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the Property Management System (PMS) to access guest information, retrieve reservation details, modify or cancel reservations, or register guests. Verifies registration info, secures credit card for incidental expenses, and authorizes charges. Provides guests with room keys or cards.
- Assists in handling customer complaints, involving management as needed.
- Receives requests and processes reservations within established guidelines. When rooms/spaces are unavailable, offers waitlist options or alternative lodging options in the area.
- Registers and assigns rooms/spaces, transmits and receives messages, maintains records of occupancy and guest accounts, manages reservations, and handles payments.
- Receives and manages a change fund. Prepares Close Bank Reports and deposits cash receipts following procedures.
- Ensures guest security and privacy at all times.
- Interacts professionally with guests; provides information about the facility, amenities, and local attractions.
- Inventories keys and supplies, maintains a clean and organized front desk and lobby area.
- Runs and prints reports from the PMS such as Expected Arrivals, Departure List, In-House Guest List, and Night Audit reports.
- Answers phones, transfers calls appropriately.
- Logs trouble calls and ensures proper department notification. Relocates guests when necessary.
- Retrieves lost and found items and contacts guests regarding them.
Conditions of Employment
- Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or other acceptable ID to access CNRMA Installations.
- Must pass background checks and all applicable records checks.
- Must pass E-Verify employment verification; discrepancies must be resolved.
- This position may be designated ALPHA for inclement weather or national security reasons and may require reporting during such times.
- Work on weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts may be required.
- May be recalled or required to work overtime to meet mission needs.
- Possession of a valid state driver’s license may be required; travel between facilities may be necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate experience and skills related to this role, including:
- Knowledge of front desk operations in hospitality or RV parks.
- Understanding of hospitality principles, standards, and regulations.
- Experience with property management systems.
- Customer complaint resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Basic math skills.
- Effective communication skills in English.

Additional Information
