Assist guests with arrival and departure from the hotel, ensuring positive guest experiences.
Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome, using a positive and clear voice. Understand requests and respond appropriately, providing accurate information such as outlet hours and local attractions.
Complete the registration process by entering and retrieving information from the computer system, confirming details including the number of guests and room rate. Promote HEI Hotels and Resorts' marketing programs. Select rooms based on guest needs. Code electronic keys, non-verbally confirm room number and rate, and provide welcome folders with keys, certificates, coupons, and refreshments as appropriate.
Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization, handle cash, make change, and balance the house bank. Accept and record vouchers, traveler's checks, and other payments. Convert foreign currency at current rates. Post charges to guest rooms and accounts using the computer.
Answer phone calls promptly with positive communication. Input messages into the system, retrieve and relay messages, and handle mail, packages, and facsimiles as requested.
Close guest accounts at checkout and ensure guest satisfaction. Address dissatisfaction by negotiating compromises, including revenue allowances if necessary.
Handle guest complaints by conducting thorough research to find effective solutions and negotiate results. Assist with resolving issues like pricing conflicts or room temperature problems.
Stay calm and alert during emergencies and busy periods, planning and executing appropriate responses using sound judgment.
Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
Hotel experience is preferred.
Proficiency with calculators for complex calculations without errors.
Effective communication skills, patience, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with guests and staff.
Ability to stand and move throughout the front office area continuously, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to accurately input information into a computer system.
Ability to recognize emergency situations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and guests.
Hourly salary: $17.00. This position is not tip or service charge eligible, nor does it include a performance bonus.
