Job summary

Sagchip is seeking a utility technician to perform water testing and maintenance of the public water system. The role includes monitoring water quality, calibrating instruments, and supporting contractors during hydrant and line installations.

The candidate will handle chemical feeds, operate pumps, and keep detailed maintenance records while ensuring safety and confidentiality in all tasks. Training and certification within two years are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year verifiable experience in wastewater/water field or related mechanical plant operations.
• Must pass a math test with 70% or higher.
• Must obtain MDEQ F-4 and S-4 within 2 years.
• Valid State Driver’s License with appropriate designation.

Responsibilities

• Read daily usage at the well house and maintain cleanliness.
• Operate valves and pumps; adjust chemical feeds to control water quality.
• Calibrate online instrumentation and test water for chlorine, alkalinity, hardness, turbidity, fluoride, and iron.
• Maintain records of preventative maintenance and lab readings.
• Supervise contractors and assist with new water hookups and repairs.
