Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations at the Chicago-area facility. You will develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet the evolving demands of the department and ensure timely and damage-free handling of customer freight.

The role requires 2 years of related experience, LTL and DOT knowledge, and flexibility to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain or similar environment.
• LTL industry knowledge and DOT regulations.
• Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll and admin functions.
• Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and regulations.
• Provide safety training and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Coach employees on proper techniques and quality requirements.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Hire, suspend and terminate recommendations.
• Develop action plans to improve load averages and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees.
• Communicate policies and corporate messages to staff.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and correct issues.
• Suggest improvements for operations within the shift and service center.
• Champion XPO values and maintain high standards.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading.
