Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations. The role requires coordinating workloads, developing procedures, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across the shift.

You will coach hourly staff, optimize schedules, and drive productivity while maintaining quality standards and on-time delivery. A strong background in LTL and DOT rules is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse/logistics environment with supervisory responsibilities.
• Knowledge of LTL, hazardous materials rules, and DOT regulations.
• Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement procedures to meet department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff and address workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage and payroll
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily goals and reduce costs
• Enforce FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC, DOT policies and laws
• Enforce safety policies and optimize network performance
• Ensure timely, damage-free customer freight handling and delivery
• Coach employees on techniques and quality requirements
• Direct a team to meet productivity goals
• Participate in hiring decisions; corrective actions
• Develop action plans to improve load average and compliance
• Participate in safety and engagement committees
• Train staff on safety rules and processes
• Maintain organization for safety and productivity
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policies
• Inspect tools/equipment and correct unsafe conditions
• Provide improvement ideas for shift operations
• Champion XPO values and uphold standards
• Minimize shipment rehandles by prioritizing direct loading
