Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor in Indiana to lead and supervise all freight operations. You will develop strategic work procedures, manage workloads, and supervise hourly staff while ensuring safety, compliance, and on-time delivery of customer freight.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in a warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment.
• Knowledge of the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules and regulations.
• Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll, and admin tasks.
• Plan hourly staff schedules to meet daily goals and lower costs.
• Enforce all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies.
• Implement workplace policies to optimize network performance.
• Ensure customer freight is processed, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach and develop employees including evaluations and corrective actions.
• Direct a team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Make hiring, suspension and termination recommendations.
• Develop action plans to improve load averages and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees.
• Train employees on safety rules and processes.
• Monitor organization within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate corporate messages.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and correct any issues.
• Provide instruction and ideas for operational improvements.
• Champion XPO values and uphold high standards.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading.
