Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Illinois to plan, coordinate and optimize freight movements. You will work with drivers, dockworkers and clerical staff to ensure efficient routing, timely deliveries and accurate billing.

The role requires hands-on supervision, performance measurement, and safety compliance with DOT/ OSHA standards. You will train and develop staff, coordinate service center activities, and maintain strong customer communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in the LTL/ transportation sector.
• Experience supervising drivers and dockworkers.
• Familiarity with the surrounding service center region.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, coordinate and implement methods for efficient routing and movement of freight.
• Compile production and service records and measure conformance to standards.
• Inspect performance and coordinate with shift personnel to support scheduling and admin needs.
• Set up appointment freight deliveries and assist with billing, rating and manifesting.
• Maintain communication with internal and external customers and support training of staff.
• Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and development of service center personnel.
• Ensure premises safety and compliance with DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules.
