Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is seeking a Logistics Technician to manage centralized freight planning for finished goods and raw materials from Hopkins, MN or Marshall, MN. You will analyze transportation options, schedule deliveries, and work with plants and units to optimize cost and service.

You will use a Transportation Management System (TMS) and collaborate across teams, ensuring timely deliveries and cost awareness while supporting a broad portfolio of brands such as Red Baron®, bibigo®, Tony’s®, Big

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of related experience in transportation/logistics or carrier management.
• Ability to work in a team with problem resolution, cooperation, negotiation and consensus.
• Intermediate Windows OS skills and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
• Excel proficiency for creating models and evaluating scenarios.
• Experience with Transportation Management software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze transportation and distribution methods to develop economical, efficient carrier plans.
• Analyze logistics patterns, rates, and loads to identify cost reductions and service improvements.
• Communicate cost impacts to management and explain drivers to other units.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure clear communication and teamwork.
• Ensure freight is delivered in peak and non-peak periods.
• Serve as the primary contact for the freight service provider and coordinate pickups/deliveries.
• Act as the internal/external receiving/shipping point contact and coordinate with vendors and depots.
• Work with customers to resolve problems and address service issues.
• Manage information in a Transportation Management System (TMS) and guide team activities.
