Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey is seeking a Dock Worker to move freight in the dock area, assist with loading/unloading and ensure accurate documentation for trailers.

Responsibilities include operating forklift or pallet jack, securing freight, and completing required paperwork. Candidates should be at least 18, with warehousing or forklift experience preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight up to ~100 pounds several times per day.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
