Job summary

Maersk is seeking a dispatcher in the United States (Michigan) to assign work for drivers and coordinate freight movements. The role involves compiling lists of available drivers, assigning trucks, issuing paperwork, and tracking departures, destinations, cargo, and returns.

You will troubleshoot changes and communicate with drivers and customers to locate missing or delayed goods. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent education/experience mix, and can manage

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Compiles and maintains list of available drivers.
• Assigns trucks according to availability, purpose of trip, and freight.
• Issues record sheets and all related paperwork to drivers.
• Trouble shooting and notifying appropriate parties of any changes.
• Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
• Investigates overdue vehicles.
• Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio.
• Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
• Heavy communication with drivers on a daily basis.
