Job summary

CSX in Danville, IL seeks a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, place rail cars for loading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards or customer facilities. You must live within 50 miles of the posted location. New hires receive substantial first-year earnings with bonuses and comprehensive safety checks.

You will attend four weeks of paid training in Atlanta, GA, with hotel, meals, and mileage reimbursement, followed by on-the-job training and additional earnings opportunities.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• One year of related experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating rules and bulletins.
• Proficient verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad rules and FRA regulations.
• Safely perform all job responsibilities and inspect equipment before departures.
• Receive and transmit information by radio/telephone and read bulletins or switch lists.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling, operate switches, and perform minor repairs.
• Work with customers to ensure proper car movement and service.
