Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, position rail cars for loading/unloading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards or facilities. Training occurs at the Atlanta center with a hotel provided, plus meal allowances and potential overtime pay.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• One year of related experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating rules and bulletins.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform duties and pass tests.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad and safety rules and FRA regulations.
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures.
• Receive and transmit information by radio and telephone.
• Assist with coupling/uncoupling; operate switches.
• Provide safe movement and placement of cars; meet customer needs.
• Follow yard master instructions and review bulletins.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure rail safety.
• Work with customers to coordinate car movements.
