Job summary

Wealthsimple Inc. is seeking a senior fraud leader to drive card fraud prevention strategy across its products. You will own the loss budget, design and tune ML-driven risk rules, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to stop fraud without hurting legitimate customers.

This staff role emphasizes independent ownership, cross-functional influence, and mentorship of junior teammates. The position supports a hybrid, North America–facing team with flexible collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in fraud prevention, with 3+ years on card fraud at an issuer, fintech, or payments platform.
• Advanced SQL and ownership of fraud strategy.
• Experience quantifying fraud savings against operational costs and client impact.
• Ability to work independently with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Own fraud strategy and loss budget for card products.
• Design, backtest, ship and tune detection rules and set decision thresholds on ML risk scores.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to build controls that stop fraud without blocking legitimate clients; mentor junior teammates.
• Lead fraud prevention initiatives with cross-functional teams across product and engineering.
