Responsibilities include referring findings to legal authorities, testifying in hearings and courts, and managing investigative caseloads to complete cases successfully.

Qualifications

  • Completion of associate core program in criminology, criminal justice, or law enforcement; 18 mos. exp. in conducting criminal investigations; valid driver’s license if required to operate state vehicle.
  • Or, for forensic accounting/auditing: Completion of associate core program in forensic accounting/auditing or accounting; 18 mos. exp. in forensic duties; valid driver’s license if required.

Responsibilities

  • Contacting and interviewing subjects of investigations to obtain statements or confessions.
  • Preparing concise investigative reports to prove or disprove fraud or criminal activity.
  • Assessing field situations and making split-second decisions during surveillance of potentially dangerous individuals.
  • Refer to Attorney General’s office or other agencies and testify at hearings and in court.
  • Manage and prioritize assigned investigative caseload and develop action plans for case completion.
