Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll and strong client service.

You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, generate financial statements and prepare payroll for clients, while supporting retention and growth opportunities. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, knowledge of GAAP, and familiarity with Xero accounting software, with strong organization and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications, or ability to obtain.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.
• Ability to interpret and apply instructions, policies and regulations.
• Discretion with confidential information.
• Analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
