Job summary

General Atomics in Herndon, VA is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join the CSS team within the Electromagnetic Systems group. You will work on avionics hardware, FPGA firmware, and system integration for spacecraft and ground electronics with DoD/IC customers.

This role emphasizes developing digital FPGA hardware, schematics, and test software, plus documentation and compliance. Strong collaboration with engineers and management is required; DoD TS clearance is needed; 9x80 schedule with every other

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's or master's in engineering and 2+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience with FPGA development is required; Actel toolchains are a plus.
• Proficient with schematics and lab testing of electronics hardware and embedded systems.
• C programming and Linux experience are desirable.
• Ability to obtain DoD TS clearance and travel as needed.
• Strong communication and leadership to interface with departments and customers.

Responsibilities

• Participants in requirements definition, avionics hardware development and system integration.
• Develop FPGA hardware/firmware, schematics, board tests, and related software.
• Plan for long-term solution development, documentation, and deployment.
• Coordinate maintenance, testing, documentation, and updates of engineering solutions.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and support business expansion.
• Work 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.
