Job summary

General Atomics in Acton, MA, seeks an Electrical Engineer or Computer Engineer with strong Embedded Firmware Design, HDL, and embedded image processing for space-based imaging systems. You will contribute to prototype design, real-time analysis, and system integration.

Responsibilities include leading firmware projects, collaborating with senior engineers, and supporting proposals and IRAD efforts. DoD clearance is required; FPGA experience with Xilinx tools is essential.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor, master or PhD in engineering or related discipline with progressive experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
• Experience designing and implementing real-time imaging algorithms on FPGAs for optical systems.
• Experience performing simulation, validation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing of FPGA-based control systems.
• Develop HDL (VHDL or Verilog) and embedded C/C++ firmware using tools such as Xilinx Vivado and Vitis.

Responsibilities

• Lead firmware development projects and guide less experienced staff.
• Work with engineering staff in concept development, prototype design, integration, and test of space-based imaging systems.
• Communicate with colleagues and management throughout development cycles.
• Act as primary technical contact for firmware-related imaging projects.
