Job summary

General Atomics and affiliated companies invites applications for a FPGA Engineer within the CSS team in Herndon, VA. The role focuses on digital and FPGA hardware development, firmware, schematic design, and board functional testing for spacecraft payloads and ground electronics.

The candidate will participate in requirements, integration, verification, and provide leadership on projects while coordinating with senior personnel for new opportunities.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and two or more years of engineering experience.
• Demonstrates detailed technical expertise and ability to lead/work under deadlines and milestones.
• Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them in an evolving environment; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in derived-requirements definition, avionics hardware development, and system integration for spacecraft and flight payload/ground electronics.
• Develop FPGA hardware/firmware and related software tests; schematic design and board testing.
• Guide deployment, documentation, and compliance activities; ensure documentation, testing, and maintenance are completed.
