Job summary

DSM-H Consulting seeks a Foundry Engineer to drive tooling, pattern design and casting simulations on the shop floor. You will work with managers, tool designers, and pattern makers to resolve issues and optimize tooling for production.

Ideal candidates have 5 years in foundry engineering with an associate or bachelor degree, and no internships. On-site Hodges, SC facility with a hands-on, collaborative environment.

• 5 years of relevant experience in foundry engineering.
• Degree required: Associate or Bachelor.
• No internships accepted.

Responsibilities

• RFQ tooling, design new pattern tooling, resolve casting issues and scrap defects.
• Re-gate, simulate, and handle other tasks as needed.
• Interact with managers on directions and priorities of workflow.
• Collaborate with tool designers, engineers and pattern makers for tool build direction.

Typical task breakdown:

• RFQ tooling, Design New Pattern Tooling, resolve casting issues, Re-gate, Simulate, all other tasks as needed.

Interaction with team:

• Interact with managers on directions and priorities of workflow.
• Interact with Tool designers and Engineers for tool build, process flow.
• Interact with Pattern Makers for tool build direction.

Team Structure

Managers, Foundry Tool Designer, Manufacturing Engineer, Programmer, Pattern Makers, Pattern Technicians.

Work environment:

• Foundry production setting. Cold in winter, Hot in Summer
• Common office computer desk setting
• Shop floor environment.

Education & Experience Required:

• Years of experience: 5 years of relevant experiences
• Degree requirement: Associate or Bachelor.

Top 3 Skills:

• Foundry Engineer Experience. (Tools Quotation, Casting Scrap defects analysis & resolution, Foundry process knowledge, no-bake process, cold box process)
• Foundry tooling Design Experience. (Pattern and core boxes, Complex modeling, intuitive knowledge of P/L, offsets, clearances, layout in tool build, no-bake process, cold box process)
• Creo modeling and flow simulation analysis using SolidCast

Additional Technical Skills (Required)

• Machining print reading and geometric tolerance understanding
• Casting simulation experiences (SolidCast prefers)
• CNC milling knowledge

Soft Skills (Required)

• Able to work with and direct suppliers on Tooling Build Projects
• Communicate and work well with all levels of the facility.
