Job summary

Weir ESCO is hiring a Foundry Team Member in Newton, Mississippi. This on-site role operates a 1st shift (3:00 am–1:15 pm, Monday–Thursday) with a focus on maintenance, repair, and materials handling within a foundry environment.

Safety and precision are essential as you follow detailed procedures to support continuous plant operations. You will participate in lean initiatives, learn the AOD process, and grow technical skills through hands-on training while contributing to a world-class safety

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Available to work onsite in Newton, MS on 1st shift (3:00 am–1:15 pm).
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions precisely.
  • Strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance, repair, and relining of ladles, AOD vessels, and refractory components.
  • Remove old linings, install new refractory materials, and fabricate stopper rods for continuous plant operations.
  • Maintain a clean, hazards-free work area and participate in Safety, Health, and Environmental programs.
  • Update refractory application systems and input operational data for process tracking and improvement.
  • Safely position and move ladles, vessels, and refractory materials using overhead cranes.
  • Engage in lean manufacturing practices such as 6S, Visual Management, and Kaizen.

What you’ll do
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform daily maintenance, repair, and relining of ladles, AOD vessels, and refractory components, ensuring all meet process and quality standards.
  • Operational Support: Remove old linings using specialized tools, install new refractory materials, and fabricate stopper rods to support continuous plant operations.
  • Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and hazard‑free work area, actively participate in Safety, Health, and Environmental programs, and demonstrate commitment to zero harm behaviors.
  • Data Management: Update refractory application systems and accurately collect and input operational data to support process tracking and improvement.
  • Equipment Handling: Safely position and move ladles, vessels, and refractory materials using overhead cranes as part of daily tasks.
  • Lean Initiatives: Engage in lean manufacturing practices such as 6S, Visual Management, and Kaizen to enhance workplace efficiency and safety.
  • Learning & Development: Continuously learn the AOD process and related technical skills through hands‑on training and work instructions, aiming for operational autonomy and technical growth.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world‑class safety culture.
