Job summary

Weir Minerals is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Technician for our onsite Florida facility. You will diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, including PLCs and Fanuc/CNC components. You will support daily operations, preventive maintenance, and system improvements.

Collaboration with engineering and operations ensures uptime and safety. The role emphasizes Lean initiatives, documentation in SAP CMMS, and a commitment to a world-class safety

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in production maintenance with strong mechanical skills and solid electrical troubleshooting capability.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical (480VAC), pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic/PLC systems including Siemens and Impulse G+ series.
  • Experience with PLCs including troubleshooting, code edits, sensor maintenance, and familiarity with ladder logic and HMI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance: diagnose and repair production and ancillary equipment including electrical (480VAC), pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic (up to 60,000 psi), and electronic/PLC systems such as Siemens, Impulse G+ series, and ladder logic PLCs.
  • Daily Operations: perform preventive maintenance and repairs on conveyors, lighting, motors, pumps, VFDs, relays, contactors, sensors, and photo eye sensors.
  • Troubleshooting & Programming: troubleshoot and maintain PLC systems including code edits, resets, and sensor adjustments; work with HMI and networked systems.
  • Lean & Continuous Improvement: lead or participate in Lean manufacturing improvements and Kaizen activities.
  • Collaboration: partner with Production, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, and machine vendors for repairs, parts ordering, and modifications.
  • Documentation: accurately document maintenance activities and equipment history using SAP CMMS; assist with system modifications.
  • Safety First: commit to zero harm behaviors and safety culture.

What You’ll Do
  • Equipment Maintenance: Independently diagnose and repair production and ancillary equipment including electrical (480VAC), pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic (up to 60,000 psi), and electronic/PLC systems such as Siemens, Impulse G+ series, and ladder logic PLCs. Work with Fanuc robotics and CNC machines in a demanding, dirty environment.
  • Daily Operations: Perform preventive maintenance and daily repairs on conveyors, lighting, motors, pumps, VFDs, relays, contactors, sensors, and photo eye sensors. Use personal tools as required.
  • Troubleshooting & Programming: Troubleshoot and maintain PLC systems including code edits, resets, and sensor adjustments. Work with HMI and networked systems to ensure smooth operations.
  • Lean & Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in Lean manufacturing improvements and Kaizen activities to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, and machine vendors to ensure timely repairs, parts ordering, and equipment modifications.
  • Documentation: Accurately document maintenance activities and equipment history using SAP CMMS software, assisting with system modifications as needed.

What You’ll Bring
Must-haves
  • Proven experience in production maintenance with strong mechanical skills and solid electrical troubleshooting capability.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical (480VAC), pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic/PLC systems including Siemens and Impulse G+ series.
  • Experience with PLCs including troubleshooting, code edits, sensor maintenance, and familiarity with ladder logic and HMI systems.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and SAP CMMS.
Nice-to-haves
  • Welding skills (Mig, Tig, Arc) for fabrication and repair purposes.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and experience participating in Kaizen events.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Positive, self-motivated attitude with excellent time management and teamwork skills.
