Job summary

Weir ESCO seeks an Oven Operator for the Newton, MS area to operate and monitor industrial ovens during the 2nd shift, ensuring precise heat treatment and consistent temperatures from start to finish. You will load and sequence castings, keep detailed heat-treat records, and coordinate with teammates to maintain quality while aiding basic maintenance and upholding stringent safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have ability to follow detailed heat-treat recipes accurately.
  • Experience in heat treatment, foundry, or manufacturing environments with exposure to high temperatures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor industrial ovens used for heat treating castings, ensuring ovens are at required temperatures at shift start and maintain them throughout shift.
  • Prepare oven loads by organizing castings by alloy type and section size, coordinate with other operators on load sequencing, and charge ovens with correct recipes.
  • Maintain accurate heat treat records including alloy type, load details, time in oven, and visual inspection of castings to ensure quality standards.
  • Assist with basic oven maintenance and report deviations such as temperature drops or unexpected shutdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Daily Success Indicators: follow heat treat processes, maintain oven parameters within specifications, show learning and autonomy, and support a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero-harm safety culture.

What you’ll do
  • Oven Operation and Monitoring: Operate and monitor industrial ovens used for heat treating castings, ensuring all ovens are at required temperatures at shift start and maintaining those temperatures throughout the shift.
  • Load Preparation and Coordination: Prepare oven loads by organizing castings according to alloy type and section size, coordinate with other operators on load sequencing, and charge ovens with the correct recipes.
  • Record Keeping and Quality Control: Maintain accurate heat treat records including alloy type, load details, time in oven, and visual inspection of castings to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist with basic oven maintenance and report any deviations such as temperature drops or unexpected shutdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
  • *Daily Success Indicators: Consistently follow heat treat processes, maintain oven parameters within specifications, demonstrate progressive learning and autonomy, and contribute to a safe work environment.

What you’ll bring
Must-haves
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and heat treat recipes accurately.
Nice-to-haves
  • Previous experience working in heat treatment, foundry, or manufacturing environments with exposure to high temperatures.
  • Experience operating forklifts or coordinating with material handling teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and respond to equipment deviations.
