Job summary

Brunswick Corporation seeks a co-op in Foundry Engineering supporting Mercury Marine’s aluminum high pressure die cast and lost foam foundry operations in Fond du Lac, WI. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing processes, casting improvements, tooling support, data analysis, and cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
  • Availability to work full-time (40+ hours/week) during Jan-Aug or May-Dec 2027.
  • Participate in a formal co-op program through your university, if applicable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Dependable, self-motivated, eager to learn in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Support additive manufacturing initiatives, including 3D printing of prototypes, fixtures, and engineering components.
  • Assist with prototype casting pours and foundry process development activities.
  • Create and modify 3D models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CAD software.
  • Support casting simulation and engineering analysis to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret casting quality and production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with design, maintenance, and modification of die cast, trim, and foam tooling.
  • Develop, update, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Support plant layout and workflow optimization projects through 2D and 3D design concepts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and maintenance teams on cross-functional projects.
