Job summary

Brunswick Corporation, Mercury Marine division, in Fond du Lac, WI, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead CNC machining process ownership and drive Lean initiatives in a stainless foundry environment.

You will manage a portfolio of projects, partner with design engineering, and work cross-functionally to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals. Requires hands-on mechanical aptitude, 3–8 years in CNC, and BS in engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3-8 years experience process engineering in CNC machining.
• Strong mechanical as well as hands-on aptitude.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently manage and prioritize projects.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and engaged learner.
• Ability to interact and communicate with different job functions and lead cross-functional teams.
• Ability to read and understand part and tooling prints.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing via shift notes and emails.

Responsibilities

• Process ownership of the Machining Department.
• Develop new and refine existing equipment and processes to reduce scrap, rework and product cost.
• Work with supervisory staff to meet production requirements.
• Independently manage a portfolio of projects to find and fix root causes and part quality issues.
• Prepare and document work instructions to maintain ISO compliance.
• Use Continuous Improvement tools and DMAIC to improve processes.
• Investigate, propose and manage large capital projects.
• Act as a liaison between design engineering and manufacturing personnel.
• Work with a team to develop new processes for new products using HPPD when applicable.
• Work closely with vendors supplying tooling for equipment or parts in your department.
• Attend safety meetings and training and participate in plant safety programs.
