Job summary

SafeStay is building an insurance platform for the short-term rental industry. We are hiring a founding Engineering Manager and Technical Lead to shape the technical vision, stand up the platform, and hire and lead the engineering team that brings it to life.

As a player-coach, you will own the systems that ingest partner activity, serve as the billing source of truth, and power claims handling for our partners and operators.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Two or more years managing or formally leading engineering teams.
• Track record of building and scaling backend systems and APIs, ideally financial or billing.
• Experience integrating with third-party partner systems and bi-directional sync.
• Experience in modern tech stacks and architectures.
• AI-forward engineering leader capable of daily AI usage in solutions.
• Proven ability to hire, grow and lead engineering teams.
• Strong data modeling instincts with reconciliation and audit trails.

Responsibilities

• Build the team by hiring, onboarding and leading engineers.
• Set technical direction across ingestion, system of record, reconciliation and invoicing.
• Ship as a player-coach, remaining hands-on in early months.
• Guard data integrity with rigorous, auditable processes.
• Partner cross-functionally with product, operations, finance and partners.
• Establish engineering foundations, practices and a durable scalable platform.
