Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an Engineering Manager for the AirCover Insurance Platform to lead backend engineering and drive regional expansion, pricing, enrollment and experimentation capabilities. You will oversee a team of senior and staff engineers, partner with Product, Data Science, Legal, Insurance, and Finance, and shape the platform road map and reliability strategy.

You will own end-to-end platform growth, ensure auditable policies, scalable pricing and enrollment controls, and guide the team

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in tech, including 5+ years as an Engineering Manager
• Strong product judgment with data and experimentation to improve metrics
• Proven leadership of senior and staff engineers in large-scale systems
• Experience with distributed, high-availability backend platforms
• Diversity and Belonging advocacy across orgs and teams

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical strategy and architecture for the AirCover platform
• Lead a team of senior and staff engineers across backend engineering
• Own the team roadmap, direction, and on-call reliability
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Legal, Insurance and Finance
• Build scalable policy, enrollment, pricing inputs and experimentation systems
• Align stakeholders and partner teams on a common platform approach
• Mentor engineers and support their career growth
• Stay close to code through design and reviews
