Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an Engineering Manager for the AirCover Insurance Platform. You will lead a senior/staff engineering team to scale a globally configurable platform for insurance products, pricing, enrollment and experimentation across regions.

You will partner with Product, Legal, Insurance, Data Science and Finance to drive a multi-year roadmap, governance and reliability while enabling data-driven decisions and scalable, auditable systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in tech with 5+ years as an Engineering Manager owning large-scale software systems.
• Experience leading multi-year technical direction on live, business-critical platforms including regional expansion.
• Backend-focused with distributed systems and high-availability services; experience in insurance or fintech is a plus.
• Strong data-driven product judgment with experiments to improve attach rate.
• Proven track record growing senior staff engineers and owning initiatives end-to-end.
• Strong communication with Legal, Finance and Operations.
• Commitment to fostering Diversity and Belonging within the organization and tech community.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical strategy and architecture for the AirCover insurance platform.
• Lead regional expansion and configurable platform rollout across countries.
• Build reliable, auditable, scalable systems for policy management, enrollment and pricing inputs.
• Own the team roadmap, technical direction and operational health including incident response.
• Mentor and develop engineers and align stakeholders on a common platform approach.
• Collaborate with Data Science and ML teams to integrate insights into experimentation.
