Job summary

Davis Chicago, a proudly Jewish, college-preparatory high school opening in fall 2027 in downtown Chicago, seeks a rigorous STEM Department Chair to design and lead mathematics, science, and engineering from the ground up. As a founding leader, you will teach daily at first and help shape a signature STEM experience aligned with our mission.

Reporting to the Principal, you will supervise faculty, steward curriculum design, and develop assessments that prepare students for selective colleges.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Illinois Professional Educator License preferred (high school math and science) with National Board Certification highly preferred.
• 3+ years of successful STEM teaching experience required.
• Some form of leadership experience; instructional leadership preferred.
• College-preparatory, independent, Jewish day or faith-based school experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead STEM department curriculum across mathematics, science, engineering, and computer science.
• Founding leader responsible for building the program from scratch and sustaining excellence.
• Balance teaching load with department leadership responsibilities.
• Collaborate with the Principal and senior leadership on curriculum and assessment.
• Champion interdisciplinary learning and evidence-based instructional practices.
