Job summary

Davis School Chicago is seeking a brilliant, warm Humanities Chair to lead an interdisciplinary program and teach while opening the school from scratch in fall 2027.

As a founding leader, you will build a rigorous curriculum across English, History, Social Sciences, and related fields, recruit and mentor faculty, and partner with universities and cultural institutions to create signature experiences.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Humanities, English, History, Social Sciences, or related field required.
• Doctorate preferred.
• Illinois Professional Educator License in high school social science and English preferred; National Board Certification a major plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Humanities Department as academic and instructional leader across English, History, Social Sciences, and related fields.
• Teach as a chair while building a cohesive, college-preparatory curriculum in a new school.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate department faculty.
