Jalen Rose Leadership Academy is seeking a Principal in Residence for the middle campus to lead the launch and growth of JRLA’s new middle school, guiding strategic vision, culture, and instructional excellence.

The role will partner with the Superintendent to recruit families, build a strong founding faculty, and implement systems that support high performance and college-ready scholars in Detroit.

Responsibilities

• Implement a high-quality, rigorous learning program aligned with JRLA’s mission.
• Set ambitious goals for student achievement and hold staff accountable.
• Plan, develop, and launch JRLA’s future middle school campus with systems, culture, staffing, and programming.
• Lead family and scholar recruitment to build enrollment and community relations in Detroit.
• Develop structures that create a joyful, rigorous middle school experience.
• Create and lead a collaborative team responsible for achieving school goals.
• Build high-performing relationships with students, staff, families, funders, and the community.
• Foster a welcoming climate supporting student and staff success.
• Promote ongoing learning and professional development among faculty and staff.
• Coach and develop campus leaders to ensure continuous improvement.
• Use data to inform instruction and decision-making.
• Manage operations, ensure fiscal health, and oversee facilities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
