Job summary

Jalen Rose Leadership Academy seeks a Principal in Residence for its new middle school in Detroit. You will direct academic, cultural, and operational systems, and lead a high-performing faculty to meet JRLA's mission.

You will recruit families and scholars, drive data-informed decisions, and build strong ties to the local community while ensuring fiscal health and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the subject area or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Valid Michigan administrative certification or willingness to obtain within 18 months.
• Minimum 3 years leading a school with exceptional gains; 5 years classroom teaching with strong results.
• Strong instructional leadership in middle school curriculum and pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and launch of JRLA's future middle school campus and systems.
• Guide and develop a high-performing faculty and set strategic student achievement goals.
• Oversee recruitment efforts and establish relationships within the Detroit community.
• Manage school operations, fiscal health, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a joyful, rigorous middle school culture.
