Job summary

Jalen Rose Leadership Academy in Detroit is seeking a Principal in Residence for the middle campus. This founding leadership role will partner with the Superintendent to design academic and operational systems that prepare scholars for college and postsecondary success.

You will lead a high‑performing faculty, set ambitious student‑achievement goals, and drive recruitment, community partnerships, and family engagement to establish JRLA’s founding middle school culture.

Qualifications

• All administrators must meet Michigan certification/continuing education requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area; Master’s degree preferred.
• Three years leading a school and five years of classroom teaching with strong results.
• Valid Michigan administrative certification or willingness to obtain within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and launch of JRLA’s future middle school campus and systems.
• Set strategic vision for student achievement and school culture.
• Recruit families and scholars to build enrollment in Detroit community.
• Develop high-performing faculty and strong stakeholder relationships.
• Use data to inform instruction and drive improvements.
• Oversee school operations, budget, and facilities ensuring fiscal health.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
