We help products get discovered and used by AI agents. You currently focus on user experience; now you will help users optimize for Agent Experience.

About the Role

The Prompting Company is building the infrastructure layer for the AI internet. Today, people discover products through search engines. Tomorrow, discovery happens through AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. We help companies understand how they appear inside these AI systems and improve their visibility across AI‑generated answers.

We’re looking for a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer who works directly with customers to implement our product, understands their business goals, and ensures they receive measurable outcomes.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and revenue. It requires technical depth, curiosity, and the ability to translate complex systems into practical solutions.

Responsibilities

You will work directly with founders, growth teams, and developers at companies using our platform. Your job is to understand their stack, integrate our technology into their workflows, and ensure we are measuring the metrics that matter.

You will be one of the earliest members of the company and play a key role in shaping how our product is deployed and used.

Technology Focus

• Hard engineering problems: Crawl, transform, and serve structured content that LLMs and agents can understand, retrieve, and use.
• Run large‑scale prompt experiments and agent workflow evaluations to understand how AI systems discover products, compare options, and complete tasks.
• Build infrastructure to simulate, trace, and debug agent behavior across docs, websites, APIs, SDKs, and product workflows.
• Track token‑level cost, caching, deduplication, and latency for high‑volume AI and agent traffic.
• Build analytics for Share of Voice, competitive visibility, workflow success rates, and agent failure points across models.

Our stack:

• Frontend: TypeScript, Next.js.
• Backend: Go.
• Data: Postgres and pgvector, Tinybird for analytics.
• Infra: Kubernetes, Cloudflare Workers, CDN‑first edge routing.

Interview Process

Step 1 — Intro conversation (30 minutes) – We’ll talk about your background, what you’ve built, and how you think about solving problems with customers.

Step 2 — Paid work trial – You’ll work with us on a short real‑world task. For example, integrating our product into a sample website, analyzing how a company appears in AI‑generated answers, or setting up tracking for key metrics.

This helps us see how you think, communicate, and execute in practice. If the trial goes well, we’ll move quickly to an offer.

Location & Compensation

Location: San Francisco, CA. Full‑time. US citizen or visa required. 1+ year of experience.

Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 per year with equity 0.50%.
