Persistent Systems in Whippany, NJ is seeking an AI Prompt Engineer with 8+ years of experience to design, develop, test, and refine prompts for LLMs such as GPT and Claude. The role demands strong knowledge of prompt patterns, RAG, and vector databases, plus hands-on Python experience.

You will build prompt libraries, develop AI workflows, monitor outputs, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a hybrid work setup that supports continuing education and certifications.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, and Prompt Engineering concepts.
• Hands-on experience with OpenAI/ Anthropic Claude or similar AI platforms.
• Knowledge of prompt patterns such as Few-shot, Chain-of-Thought (CoT), Tree-of-Thought (ToT), ReAct, Role-based prompting.
• Experience with Python and AI development frameworks.
• Familiarity with frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or equivalents.
• Understanding of RAG architectures and vector databases such as Pinecone.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate model outputs and optimize prompts for accuracy, relevance, safety, and performance.
