Résumé du poste

Cardboard in San Francisco is seeking a Founding Design Engineer who lives at the intersection of design and engineering, able to author the feel of Cardboard and not just implement it.

You’ll work with a tight, craft‑minded team to ship interactions, animations, and the rendering engine, while optimizing performance, memory usage, and accessibility across the editor, microsites, and tooling.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of easing and timing, including ease-out, ease-in-out, and linear curves.
• Fluent in GSAP, Framer Motion and Three.js, with comfort in shaders and SVG animation performance.
• Solid understanding of WebGL and GLSL and rendering pipelines.
• Obsessed with frontend performance; able to profile and optimize browser bottlenecks.
• Bonus: interest in WebGPU and its direction.

Responsabilités

• Build and ship interactions, animations, micro-interactions, and core rendering engine work powering Cardboard.
• Optimize memory usage with smart streaming, caching, and asset management across browser primitives.
• Work across editor timeline, microsites, micro-apps, and marketing/polished elements.
• Build reusable components and raise quality while respecting device constraints.
• Experiment with new interaction patterns, shaders, and creative techniques.
• Write design.md files and set interface guidelines; raise accessibility standards.
• Wire up API endpoints when needed.
