Job summary

Circleback is hiring a design engineer in San Francisco to own the product surface end-to-end—from concept to production code—without handoffs or fidelity gaps. You’ll shape web (React/Next.js), desktop (Electron/Swift), and mobile (React Native) experiences across customers who rely on concise, actionable information.

You’ll drive the design system, craft fast, polished interactions, and collaborate with engineers and founders to push the product to elite levels while growing with the company.

Qualifications

• Portfolio or shipped work showing design and coding ability.
• Strong craft mentality: typography, color, spacing, and attention to detail.
• Fast and pragmatic—prefer shipping today over perfect later.
• Interest in applying AI as a tool in product design and workflow.

Responsibilities

• Own design and frontend implementation of features across web, desktop, and mobile.
• Understand customer problems and design elegant solutions for dense, conversational data.
• Craft interactions, animations, and transitions to feel fast and alive.
• Build and evolve our design system with components, tokens, and patterns.
• Sweat the details: loading/empty/error states, keyboard shortcuts, hover states, drag feel.
• Iterate quickly on onboarding, activation, and education experiments.
• Collaborate with engineers and founders on product direction and execution.
• Prototype new ideas in code, not just mockups to test interactions.
