Job summary

UMBC is seeking a Director of Foundation Engagement to drive strategic growth of the foundation partnerships portfolio and secure multi-million-dollar investments. You will lead strategy, mentoring staff, and advising deans and executives to elevate foundation readiness across the campus.

The role includes overseeing proposals, budgets, and stewardship reporting while coordinating with faculty and post-award teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Five years of progressive, successful fund development experience in foundation relations.
Experience managing relationships with foundation funders, program officers, or other external funding partners.
Experience developing LOIs, proposals, and grant applications, including budgets.
Experience coordinating multiple grant deadlines and coordinating contributions from stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop portfolio strategy for foundation engagement and drive high-value funder relationships.
Supervise staff and align performance with goals and deadlines.
Oversee foundation tracking system, metrics, and reporting calendars.
Improve grant workflow, budgets, and reporting processes across campus partners.
Prepare for and conduct funder site visits and stewardship communications.
