University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) seeks an Assistant Dean for Development to lead a growing major gifts team and shape donor strategies across clinical service lines, hospital programs, and research initiatives. The role drives strategic fundraising, cultivates key donors, and guides faculty and leadership engagement to advance institutional priorities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Ten (10) or more years in development/alumni relations with at least five (5) years in major gifts.
Experience building and implementing a Grateful Patient Program is strongly encouraged.
Five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
Financial disclosure reporting required by State of Maryland Ethics Commission.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight to a growing team of major gift officers and manage the frontline fundraising budget.
Develop and implement fundraising strategies aligned with institutional priorities and ensure team alignment.
Set quarterly and annual goals, monitor progress, analyze metrics, and prepare leadership reports.
Collaborate with faculty, hospital leaders, department chairs, and program directors to integrate gift strategies.
Develop grateful patient fundraising plans and engage donors through on-site and regional opportunities.
