University of Maryland seeks an Assistant Director for Research Development to lead externally funded research initiatives and partnerships, driving strategic growth across engineering and campus programs.

The role requires building relationships with industry, government, and foundations, managing complex projects, and overseeing staff while advancing innovation and education outreach.

Qualificações

• Master's degree or equivalent.
• 3–5 years business development or government/industry research program experience.
• Established relationships with industry, government, academic or science foundation partners.
• Experience managing cost, schedule and performance metrics.
• Two years of supervising or managing professional staff.
• US citizen and ability to obtain security clearance (ITAR).
• Ability to build externally funded research programs.
• Ability to analyze ambiguous situations and develop plans and ensure successful implementation.

Responsabilidades

• Strategize to increase breadth and depth of UMD research impact and partnerships.
• Identify and pursue non-traditional partnering opportunities.
• Integrate innovation and entrepreneurial activities into education and research.
• Support PIs in winning and executing larger research programs; grow defense-related research and tech transfer.
• Provide outreach to regional community to increase research expenditures.
