Job summary

The Shed in New York is seeking a full-time Foundation and Government Support Associate to grow and manage a portfolio of foundation and government funders. You will draft proposals, prepare briefing materials, and support grant reporting while collaborating across the fundraising team.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years nonprofit fundraising experience, strong writing skills, and comfort in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably in arts/cultural institutions.
• Grant writing experience and familiarity with grant research tools.
• Experience with fundraising databases (e.g., Tessitura) is strongly preferred.
• Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to translate input from colleagues into compelling narratives.
• Highly detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management abilities.
• Comfort working in a growing organization with evolving policies and goals.

Responsibilities

• Draft proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other grant-related correspondence to foundation and government funders; circulate for edits and approvals.
• Prepare supporting documentation for proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports.
• Identify and prepare research briefs on existing and prospective funders.
• Monitor and update the fundraising calendar and related tracking documents.
• Collaborate with Development Operations on processes and in Tessitura for grants and activities.
• Manage recognition on signage, materials, web, and other platforms.
• Assist in cultivation and stewardship, including arranging meetings and donor briefings.
• Support development communications for the Director of Leadership Support and Chief Development Officer.
