Creative Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a Counselor II for one of our STRTP facilities in California. You will mentor and advocate for youth, implement trauma-informed care, and support daily activities, supervision, and safety.

The role requires a BA/BS, two years’ experience with the target population, and clearance checks. A valid CA driver license is also required to perform transport and field duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Science degree required.
• Two years’ full-time experience with population served or equivalent education/experience.
• Must complete training per Section 87065.1(a) and related sections before duties.
• Must pass DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse index clearance; CA driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the facility in the absence of a supervisor.
• Ensure care and supervision per law, licensing regulations and agency policies.
• Supervise and engage children individually and in groups; plan activities.
• Maintain facility upkeep and safety; provide mental health services including individual and group rehabilitation.
• Write progress notes during each shift for each client; document accurately.
• Administer discipline and set limits in trauma-informed manner; collaborate with staff.
• Complete incident reports as necessary; participate in meetings and trainings.
• Transport clients in agency vehicles and participate in crisis intervention as needed.
