Job summary

Paradise Oaks Youth Services seeks a Residential Counselor to support emotionally disturbed youth in our California facility. You will supervise youth, implement behavior plans, and document daily progress, with emphasis on trauma-informed approaches and consistent routines.

You will assist with housekeeping, meals, and safe transportation as needed, while upholding licensing and agency policies. A valid CA driver’s license and appropriate certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster/Kinship Care Education with at least 100 hours with youth.
• Valid California Driver's License and meet agency driving requirements.
• Pro-ACT certification within 3 months of employment.
• Experience in youth- or group home settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision and observation of youth during all activities, areas, and shifts.
• Transport youth using agency vehicles.
• Supervise youth during meals, recreation, and other activities; provide guidance and etiquette coaching.
• Perform house cleaning and food service tasks as part of program operations.
• Apply disciplinary measures per program guidelines and model appropriate behavior.
• Implement youth-specific treatment plans and trauma-informed care.
• Complete youth documentation (point sheets, behavior logs/contracts, monthly/quarterly reports).
• Respond to crises and intervene during incidents; assist staff as needed.
